Crazy FUN! The mystery and suspense, the family, Hunter and Molly all of it. Just plain cute! Solid 4.
The mystery and suspense, the family, Hunter and Molly … all of it. Copy provided by the author for review team purpose Apr 29, Romancing the Book rated it really liked it Shelves: romance , contemporary.
Each book stands alone, but as usual it probably makes a lot more sense if you read them in order since the main characters have parts in both stories.
Molly has a budding career and a great boyfriend, Hunter, but what she wants most is a family. So, when she discovers her real father, she leaves everything-and everyone-behind.
A year later, Hunter is still not over Molly. She shows up on his door step asking for his help, as a lawyer, when he father is arrested for murder.
Hunter can't resist the challenge, but is determined to be the person to walk away in the end. I liked this book.
Not as much as Cross My Heart, but it is still a good story. It was an interesting change to see both characters already in love with each other from the beginning, but fighting the attraction because they don't want to get hurt again.
The romance part of the story was lacking for me. Since they were already in love with each other, it was more a case of spending time together to realize what they have.
So, most of the story was concentrating on solving the murder mystery. And Ms. Phillips does a commendable job is creating an interesting and, while not very deep this isn't strictly a mystery novel after all , well-written tale.
Jul 25, Anica rated it did not like it Shelves: romance. Nope, not my cup of tea. I am seriously asking myself why I even bother to get any of Carly Phillips' books lately since she basically just writes crap lately.
This is no exception! The story is practically non-existent, and even if it was it is ridiculous. You're wondering from the start what it is with these people.
Gosh, just get it on and shut the fuck up. I was this close to scream at them. During the whole book you don't see any change at all. Of course in the end, everything is Nope, not my cup of tea.
Of course in the end, everything is fine which I expect and like usually but here? I was just glad that damn book was over. Seriously, what is CP thinking lately?
Not only is the story crap and the protagonists are blank, stupid, blunt and everything else you can think of but even Phillips' writing style is sooo bad.
Even a first class girl could write that stuff. Man, I am not sure if I wanna ever read a book by her again. Probably not in the near future anyhow.
Trust me! View 2 comments. Mar 22, Barb rated it it was amazing. Molly Gifford has a hot legal career and Daniel Hunter. Everything but a family.
She discovers the where abouts of her real father, and packs her bags to find him, leaving her life and Daniel behind.
A year later Daniel Hunter's still trying to get on with his life. So when Molly shows up at his door, begging for help, for her father,Hunter is a bit put off.
But Hunter can't resist helping an innocent man. But this time he's going to do in his way. He plans on being the one to walk away..
Such a Molly Gifford has a hot legal career and Daniel Hunter. Such a talented author, Carly does it again.
True to her style, Carly weaves an awesome story that gets you caught up right in the middle. Her characters are real, the plot is real, and her story line is real.
You will love Molly, Daniel, Jesse, the General, and even the commander. It makes you believe in true love again. Jan 06, Angie rated it it was amazing.
I really liked this book, but I think it helped that most of the story was included in the first book of the series.
In this book, it went straight to the point. Since the history was already there, there was no need to repeat it. This one was fun, sad, funny and charming.
I really like Molly and Hunter. Great team with a great supporting cast that didn't overwhelm the main charcters.
Thanks for another great read! Apr 02, Jessica Alcazar rated it really liked it Shelves: phillips-carly , library-traded.
Both Hunter and Molly's story were well developed and did not seem so far-fetched to me. But that's just my opinion Nov 09, Tin rated it liked it Shelves: ebook , If i haven't read the first book Ty and Lacey's story in Cross My heart or it wasn't still fresh on my mind, i would have probably rated this book higher.
But with the previous book's lead-in and its characters' charm and likability, it made rooting for Hunter and Molly a little challenging.
Hunter, like it says in the book, is a natural charmer, and i liked him even in the first book. Molly, on the other hand, can get on someone's nerves.
If it weren't for her endearing family, and yes, that If i haven't read the first book Ty and Lacey's story in Cross My heart or it wasn't still fresh on my mind, i would have probably rated this book higher.
If it weren't for her endearing family, and yes, that includes Jessie, and her relationship with Hunter, i'd describe Molly as someone i'm not interested in meeting and becoming her friend.
I wish more highlight was given to Molly and her growing relationship with her dad. His storyline served as a great way for Molly and Hunter to reconnect, but a good father-daughter reconnection could have been explored more.
Sealed With a Kiss had its good points though. I'm glad the author didn't make an attempt of trying to make this book a mysterious murder story. I already knew who killed Paul from the beginning and it kinda helped me focus on Molly's relationships with her family and Hunter more.
The epilogue which left out an update of Edna! I thought that might have been the author's way of hinting of a possible three-quel that features Jessie although i haven't seen any blurb about this yet.
Overall, SWAK was okay. Not really bad, but not great either. Simply okay. It would have worked best if it were a stand-alone novel.
Because between the series' two main couples, Jessie's line from the epilogue is a kinda telling: " And if you happened to come across this book first, hurry up and start reading Cross My Heart first.
If you have read Cross my Heart then you would know who Hunter and Molly are. Then if you havent read it then stop right here and go read them because you will need the full effect of their story.
Hunter has had a hard life of foster homes, juvenile detention and being scared straight. He knew his life needed to change so he became a lawyer for the people who he believes need to be fought for.
Molly is a lawyer also who Hunter met in law school. They were always in competition with one another If you have read Cross my Heart then you would know who Hunter and Molly are.
They were always in competition with one another but all that time Hunter had a crush on Molly. When they are living in the same town, they start a relationship on shaky ground.
At the end of Cross my Heart, Molly leaves Hunter behind with a broken heart. Molly thinks she needs to find a family and when she gets the chance, she takes it.
Who does she turn to for help? He knows though if you want to move on from the past then he needs to face Molly and get the closure he deserves.
While helping Molly though he finally learns what her baggage is about and tries to make her see life is not all about needing a family to fulfill all your needs.
There is more to life than losing yourself just to make other people happy. With Molly and Hunter trying to navigate their love life and get the charges drop against her father there is something lurking beneath the surface.
I like their story and Hunter is a guy you would want in your corner. They both have issues that they need to face and conquer it.
Their story is one of finding your place in the world without losing yourself. I like this one but I think Cross my Heart was the better story. Sealed with a Kiss Imagine going through an entire lifetime thinking one man was your father and then also having a mother who thought of you Thats what Molly Gifford has to come to terms with in her late twenties.
It now makes sense that her dad never treated her like his own, only sending the occasional birthday card and sporadic phone calls.
He finally gives her the gift of her biological fathers name. Molly leaves Sealed with a Kiss Imagine going through an entire lifetime thinking one man was your father and then also having a mother who thought of you Molly leaves her life in New York behind and travels yo Connecticut to find the father she never knew existed.
Leaving behind her best friend Daniel Hunter. After feeling her fathers attorney is inadequate, Molly decides to call the best criminal defense attorney in NY state, Daniel Hunter, or Hunter ash is friends call him.
He travels to CT to meet the family. After learning about the man Frank is, he knows he needs to take the case.
Their other sister Robyn is away at college. The police have no evidence against Frank, just a strong motive, the oldest one in time: money.
Paul Markham, the deceased, had milked the company dry. There was no murder weapon found and no one could place Frank at the office that night.
Enter Hunter. He decides he has to help the General even if it means ripping his heart out by being so close to Molly, again. I will not give away more info A must read.
What do you do when your father is arrested for the murder of his best friend and business partner? Why, you call your own best friend, of course, who also happens to be the best criminal attorney you know and your ex!
She also hoped that he would take the case and was the first step to them getting back together. Their relationship was a long one.
Of course, Daniel Hunter, aka Hunter, views her run as another abandonment. His success as an attorney has proven his worth. Along the way, he became enamored of Molly who was so focused on her career that she forever rejected his advances.
He was not deterred. What Hunter did not know was that after leaving, she learned that the person who raised her as a father wrote to her and told her that he was not her biological father and told her who her father was and where she could find him.
Her real father and his family accepted her into their fold and it was her real father who is arrested for murder, thus bringing Molly to get Hunter involved with her new family.
The slow progress and loving environment of the family makes it challenging for Hunter to keep to his stand to avoid entanglements with Molly as he defends her father.
How will this relationship work out? Lots of twists and turns as this story unfolds. Although its not necessary, for maximum enjoyment please read Cross My Heart before reading Sealed With A Kiss as you will get a better understanding of Hunter and Mollys past experiences that shape the story in this book.
What an exhilarating story! I really couldnt put it down! I laughed out loud, I cried, I was captivated by a wonderfully complex story line! Hunter and Molly went to law school together.
Forever, Hunter has been captivated by Molly, and she by him. When her father is accused of murder, Molly turns to the only man who she trusts to help.
Will he be able to get Molly to come to terms with her past as well? Bravo Carly!! Feb 15, Nicole Riles rated it it was amazing. I have never read a book by Carly Phillips I havent loved and this was a short fast paced book.
I was hooked from the very beginning and this book is sweet, sexy and full of twists and turns.
This could be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading Cross My Heart first. I really liked how this was read in multiple points of views.
